Bitter and Sweet

About a month ago our niece Holly got married. At the reception, Madison found herself holding Holly’s bouquet while the bride and groom shared their first dance.

The photo is frankly a both bitter and sweet. Sweet in that she seems happy holding the flowers; bitter in that she will not ever get to be the bride having her first dance.

The dreams we have for her today are far different from the ones we had the day she was born. Not bad, just different. We had hoped for all the normal stuff until a germ had a different plan when she was six months old.

This is all simply a reminder to me that we do not know what tomorrow holds, rather just the One who holds tomorrow.

  1. I love reading your blog. I have the same feelings and emotions on most of the same issues. Thanks for giving voice to my thoughts. Maybe Madison and Zane will fall in love one day. We can take turns. They can live 1/2 time with you guys. 1/2 with us. 🙂 Trusting in God’s divine plan.

    In Christ!
