The night the lights went out at the AtwoodZoo

At 7:05 last night, the power went out at the AtwoodZoo. And at all the other houses up and down the street.

Tick.Tick. Tick.

Getting hotter. "Be still…don’t run…don’t open the door…don’t open the fridge…Mommy just got five new gallons of milk…"

Tock. Tock. Tock.

Even hotter…has it been an hour…hour and a half…I’m going to drive around and see if I can see any electric trucks…light another candle…but that just makes it hotter…

Driving around, the houses directly behind us had power. I could tell they had the air conditioners running full blast, every light in the whole house was on, the were just opening and shutting the fridge with reckless abandon, and driving lots of cold, cold beverages…it seemed to me they were almost taunting us…mocking those of is without power…

9:00 pm…still no power. Off to Nana and Papa’s…

And so we gathered up a few things and (temporarily) abandoned AtwoodZoo.

Must have cool air…must have cool air….

  1. Candles don’t make it hotter they make it more fun! Glad you got out of the heat though. How long did it take for the power to come back on?
