Happy Birthday Mabel – 29 days late…
I was just wondering…what is the statute of limitations on birthday parties? Specifically eight-year-old girl birthday parties? Cause Mabel turned eight back in January, and here on February 20th we were at the bowling alley with a posse of second graders. The time period before expiration of rights to have a birthday party must be 30 days, cause Mabel snuck this one in right under the wire. 29 days and 17 hours. She had wanted to have her party at the Laser Chase, but they seem to be continually under construction so she defaulted to the Franklin Bowlarama.
As you can see from the picture, Mabel’s friends took a very casual approach to bowling. There was just very limited wagering and no cigars that I saw. Well except maybe from a couple of the mom’s present, but that hardly counts.
And for those of you keeping score at home, there were "goody bags," in spite of my utter disdain for the whole goody bag scam. In case you must know, the AtwoodZoo is a democracy and we voted about whether to have goody bags. I was soundly defeated 1 to 1, by The Beautiful Bride.
In spite of my lack of support for the goody bags, a good time was had by all, and the lovely Miss Mabel did a delightful job blowing out the eight candles after her friends and sisters serenaded her with the classic "Happy Birthday to You CHA-CHA-CHA…."
